Wee Baby Sloth

Someone tagged me for that "eight days of happiness" meme way longer than eight days ago. Sorry for utter fail, please accept my feeble attempt at redeeming myself. I'll even do ten things that have made me happy in the past ten days:

1. I officially completed my MS degree in biomedical/neuro engineering! \o/
2. SUPERNATURAL PREMIERE. duh.
3. All of Misha's recent interviews. Hell, Misha's face in general, but I think that's a given.
4. The extended Kara/Lee scene from Taking a Break, although I'm not sure this makes me happy so much as intensely nostalgic, both over the pairing and over BSG in general.
5. Getting comments on really old fics. (People are still reading those? o.O)
6. A behind the scenes Jensen pic, from andreas_ri. ♥
7. This comment from airings: from what I've seen (which is exactly one episode now), Dean/Cas is SO CANON. Idgaf what others say. IT'S TRUE WUV. ♥
8. taurenova's BFF!verse. I still need to gather all the links for that. Rahm and Misha being BFFs is totally my personal canon.
9. Back in college, I lived right next to Chipotle. I've been going through withdrawal all year, but they finally opened one here, too!
10. olympia_m's Roman AU which I already gushed about so I'll refrain from doing it again, but suffice to say it brings me immense and continued glee.

This isn't spoilery for the premiere, so I won't cut it: I've just kind of been assuming that everyone knows Dean broke the first seal, but is that actually true? Do Sam and Bobby know, even? For some reason I feel like surely this must have been addressed, but I can't remember when or how and now I'm not so sure it has been anymore..

DEAN/CASTIEL SPECIFICALLY: vichan has written us an amazing manifesto, to be posted at ship_manifesto on Monday, and I got to read it today. It makes my heart do this funny swelling thing, and I can't wait for it to go live because I just want to bask in all the ship-love glory with you guys, and I might actually explode if that doesn't happen soon. LOOK FORWARD TO IT. *_* ♥!

DEAN/CASTIEL REC: The Consequences of Falling by pandarus. 15 parts, but they absolutely fly by. This is everything I want in a fic -- snark, love, angst, h/c, suspense, hot sex, everything. She recently finished it, so I spent my afternoon with this fic and some cherry pie, and it was the most glorious afternoon I've had in a long time. This fic reminds me of what it feels like to be in love -- she nailed that in a way that just makes me unspeakably happy and high. And her Ruby is my absolute, all time favourite, from any fic AND from the actual show.

Plus, and here's the clincher... I realized while reading it that she's the one who wrote Invisible to See, that epic Harry/Draco fic from way back in '03. !!! Seriously, do any of you guys remember that? It was one of the classics, in a way, and she wrote that and now she's writing my other ship, and doing such a damn fine job of it, and why is my life so good? But man, you wouldn't believe the surge of H/D nostalgia that came on. I went back and reread the last couple chapters of that, and. My boys. My OTP. My Harry and my Draco. I'm such an incoherent, blubbering mess from all the awesome that happened today, god, but you guys, I miss you so much. I miss H/D SO MUCH. D:

Yes, I realize this is near the top of the list of Most Asinine Things Tracy Has Ever Done, right up there with neglecting to close the window blinds after a shower that one highly embarrassing night many years back until the neighbors -- I digress. This isn't even something I'd considered a week ago, but everyone and their cat was posting about it so I looked and realized it was 20,000 words rather than 50,000, which is the number that's been stuck in my head since the original big_bang_hd in '05. It's still about four times longer than anything I've ever written on my own, but the deadline is far enough away that a false sense of security has settled over me. And I just (finally) read strangeandcharm's epic, bunk-friendly Melting 'verse and am feeling inspired.

Plus there was that discussion over at spn_castiel last week, where the poster said he/she just couldn't see Dean/Castiel. couldn't see how it could happen, for Dean especially. Obviously I see it, but it's a valid point -- so far all the fics I've read/written gloss over a lot of the necessary steps between "I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition" and "oh god fuck me", or else use some cleverly convenient plot device. So, in the spirit of big_bang_hd, I'm going to try to write that definitive Dean/Castiel story, try to show how it could happen in canon. Try being the key word here. Someone tell me what happens if I fail or don't finish in time?

ETA2: I just -- oh my god, Kim Manners. this is. no. I typed a ":(" after that out of habit, but how fucking pathetic emoticons are when things matter.

1. HP prequel: MATCHING SHIRTS. and then, matching shirts art by myrafur. If I were at home on my own computer, this would totally be my new wallpaper. I am so happy and sad at the same time, always did love James and Sirius.

2. hd_readers: Each month someone picks a new H/D fic and we all read and discuss. This is sort of what I'd wanted for Armchair, all those ages ago, so I am really excited to see this actually happen. reconnecting with the H/D fandom and all, since I've been so out of the loop lately. I love my OTP so, so much. ♥ This month we're reading In This Place by sans_pertinence, and it's epilogue-compliant and there's infidelity, which I usually avoid, but it's a quietly desperate, gorgeous piece. If you're an H/D shipper, go check it out and join the comm and squee with us!

3. Drop Dead Gorgeous: Chapter 11 is up, oh my god. It's SO PERFECT, and so awful, and I hate Katie, and I love Harry, and the world is so unfair. but perfect. I'm not being very coherent, am I? This chapter makes me miss having a boyfriend, and those fleeting, late-night moments of being unreasonably happy. :|

4. Boys: All the Chinese boys here are either too creepy or too shy to do anything beyond trying to grab my hand, lol. there are none I want. I met an Italian guy tonight who has some potential, I guess, but I am not a one night stand sort of girl and didn't go home with him. I did give him my number, though, and he called me a couple of minutes ago, lol. didn't answer, what am I doing with my life?

5. Heroes: Cousin and I blasted through the entire two seasons of Heroes in less than a week. Peter Petrelli is really, really, really hot, especially when he wears long, dark coats and flings people/things around. As embarrassing as it is, I may have to start watching Gilmore Girls just to see more of him because the new season doesn't start until September. :( ALSO, Hiro is the cutest thing ever, I just want to pinch his cheeks and squish him and show him pictures of Nathan so he can push his glasses up his nose (in a very Harry-like manner, I might add) and do his little "flying man!" squee. He's so happy that looking at him automatically makes me happy. *laughs*

7. BSG: MID-SEASON FINALE is streaming right now but I cannot see it because it requires WMP 11 and the damned program won't install on this computer because grandfather apparently doesn't have a valid copy of Windows. ugh ugh ugh. :( I am going to bed, will download tomorrow.
