Way to retcon some more, show, but I'm not clear enough on the history of the Colt to judge this one. Anyway, it's suspicious that he didn't know it couldn't kill Lucifer? Then again, I suppose no one's ever tried to shoot him with it before..

Whatever, moving on, FUNCTIONAL MORONS. And Dean IMMEDIATELY PROVING HIS POINT, way to go, Dean. :P I still love you, though. So does Cas, even if you are a bit of a functional moron sometimes. He looks so embarrassed, heeee.

THIS SCENE CRACKS ME UP SO HARD. Their epic confusion and wtfness and lovely conversation and Sam's "Great! Thanks." And then Crowley's continued helpfulness after Sam tries to shoot him. Omg I love everything about this scene. ESPECIALLY CROWLEY YELLING AT HIM. ♥


I thought there'd be more drinking games, but ahhh, CAS IS SO CUTE, five shots in a row and thinks he's starting to feel something. Being almost excited about that! PLEASE DRINK DEAN UNDER THE TABLE SOMETIME AND THEN TAKE CARE OF HIM WHILE HE GRUMBLES AT YOU. ♥


ALSO. HAND!PORN. MISHA STICKS HIS PINKY UP IN THE AIR WHEN HE'S PICKING UP GLASSES. SO DO I. I FIND THIS ENDEARING.


I am unsure how to interpret this. Dean is obviously jabbing at a sore spot between the two of them, but it seems so comfortable and teasing. Perhaps it's a sign that they really are getting over it? Sam's "if we're going to do this, we're gonna do it together" is also much with the ♥. And it's interesting how Dean STILL has no sense of self worth, he just called himself a game piece. Oh, Dean. I suppose being Michael's meatsuit rather than someone who's supposed to end the apocalypse on his own has only reinforced that.


JO. Holy shit I can't even watch any of her scenes without getting all T_T, but GO JO. I've never loved her more. (Especially since, in her place, I wouldn't have been able to turn him down, lol.) They could not have given her previous little crush a better resolution, go show!


And Dean's little Confused Eyebrow Furrow of Rejection. XDDDDDDD OMG I love this show.


I LOVE THAT CAS IS PART OF THE FAMILY. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH. ♥ Even though he's so serious despite all the alcohol, lol. I love that Sam is SO FREAKING HUGE, look at that arm span. I love Jo's smugness as she looks at Dean.


One of my biggest hopes for the show is that Sam and Cas will become friends, so seeing Sam with his hand on Castiel's shoulder makes me pretty ♥_♥. But oh, Cas, how many last nights on earth have you already had? Or will have after this? Seriously, are you trying to sleep with everyone here or just Dean? And heee, look, Sam's hand balled into a fist as soon as he started talking. XD

Dean's "angel up our sleeve" and subsequent failure to worry about Lucifer having gotten Cas vexes me a little in that it's sort of reminiscent of future!Dean and how he views even his friends as game pieces (and he's wearing green, like future!Dean was), but then again, that's how he views himself, too. Ehh, I'll just not worry about this and pretend he was talking about his pant sleeve or something.


DEAN/GUN WILL NEVER NOT BE HOT.

I can't help but think their roles are a little reversed here, with Dean being the one who's all "gotta do what we gotta do" and Sam all :( over the people they're losing.


Dean being all stoic and strong in front of Sam and then almost breaking down while talking to Bobby and looking to him for support and letting Bobby be his parent is kind of heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time. D:


But I love how Bobby is exactly what he needs and pulls him through. ♥


CASTIEL IS SO PISSY THAT SHE HAS THE WINCHESTERS. ♥ And that's when he starts looking for an escape route! I thought at first he'd bust the pipes or something, but whatever, mostly I just like looking at his face, okay?


I was holding out fine till Jo said "Mom, this might literally be your last chance to treat me like an adult" and Ellen started crying. Fuck. D:



This might be the sweetest kiss ever. If Dean is good at anything, it's being a caring older brother.

At this point, it's simply cruel that Dean has not yet hugged Cas. Because he was like, "Good boy, good angel!" and you know that inside, Castiel's soul was aglow. I like the way that Dean takes care of him.

Marksha did pronounce Castiel's name weirdly. It had a slight slur to it - Cashtiel.

ETA: I don't think Dean wasn't worried about Castiel. Frankly, at this point, that would be OOC. But there wasn't anything he could do. They were on business, and he had to focus on that.

You know this is interesting. I didn't notice it at first because we had the rebonding comedy episodes between Sam and Dean, but now the total lack of interaction and eyesex is kind of sad. I need my invasion of personal space eye sexing.

I didn't notice the green. You're right. And Cas was drinking and losing his mojoa little,(but kudos for being such a smart, sneak BAMF - Cas just ruled last night) talks of Detroit and Lucifer and Sam, Dean being the leader leaving people behind - eep! Portents of The End? Ack, that I don't want.
But kind of awesome.

Loved the Reaper scene, the gorgeous firelight on Misha's face and the ladies were fantastic.

Right, I don't think there's really been any intense Dean/Castiel scenes since pretty early on in the season. I don't want to say their spark has fizzled, but they're definitely.. more comfortable around each other now. Which is also good! But I miss their old intensity.

It does kind of seem to be heading in the direction of The End, doesn't it? D: I AM ALL WORRIED NOW. But I do also hope that we find out what could make Sam give in to Lucifer, that would be pretty interesting.

I'm totally not digging the way things appear to be going... with the whole Detroit thing being brought up, looks like Sam and Dean are fighting again in the next episode by the previews, and Dean seeming to treat everyone like a pawn just like in The End :/ As much as I loved smiley/high Cas, I don't want to see him become that broken... and I don't want Dean to break even further than he already has... and I don't want Cas seeing Dean more broken because that'll just break HIM even more and... D:

But on the bright side? Crowley is made of pure awesome \o/ Loved that we had our first gay kiss on the show, but did it really have to be with an ugly old man? LOL! I mean, I would have rather had him kiss a Winchester or Castiel so they could get the colt xD

I seriously love Mark Pellegrino now too, after I was sketchy on him being Lucifer in the beginning. I couldn't believe how awesome he was in this episode... I'm really upset his skin seems to be rotting off because I'd much rather have Nick!Lucifer for the rest of the show than Sam!Lucifer. I'm so not a fan of Jared's acting as Lucifer xD

I really need to see some new Dean/Cas on this show, and SOON! It seems like they're pulling away from the epicness and Dean is starting to care less and less :( I was almost ready to ship Lucifer/Castiel after last episode... WHAT THE HELL? xD

I loved this episode to pieces, but then again, I adore drama and am not a real fan of comedy. I only wish Castiel had been in it more. XD You can never have too much Castiel! Yay, CAS! And you're right, Lucifer did say Castiel's name kind of weird. It bugged me, but I'll live.

As for the death scene, OMG! I was never a big Jo fan , although I didn't dislike her, either. She just wasn't my favorite female character, but that was a moving scene. Jo AND Ellen? AHHH! I didn't out and out cry, but I did tear up. So did my sister, though for her sake I pretend I didn't notice. LOL

I think the burning of the picture was symbolic. Hunter's are usually burned, aren't they? Or at least the ones Sam and Dean know. There's probably even a practical reason behind it, too. I guess burning the picture would take the place of an actual funeral pyre since they were angel-ed out of the area by Castiel. And as long as they have the negative, they can always reprint the photo.

Anyway, so, Crowley was the one who told them about the Colt, eh? Way to retcon some more, show, but I'm not clear enough on the history of the Colt to judge this one.
As far as the Colt... I'm pretty sure the reason that they added the scenes from "The End" during the recap was to explain that kinda. Dean said that he was sure that the demons had melted the thing down by now and Cas says, "Well I hear differently."

I think that's what Crowley meant... he started the rumor that the demons hadn't destroyed the Colt, and it got to Cas' ears, and Cas passed that on to Dean that's how the idea of getting the Colt came back for this season... just my take on it anyway.

And about Cas not being able to kill demons. I don't think that's permanent. I don't remember if it was something Misha said at the con this weekend, or an interview I read right before it, but he said that in this episode we were going to see how doing things that seemed easy for Cas before takes a lot out of him now. So I think in using nifty telekinetic powers to unscrew the bolts it left him too drained to kill Meg at the time...

Oh, he did say it takes a lot out of Cas now, you're right. I do hope this is what he meant, if only to leave open the possibility of him having to try extra extra hard to save Dean from a demon and then succeeding in the end through sheer force of will. XD /sappiness.

I think everybody cried, even those who usually don't cry. But this is seriously one of the most intense scenes this show has. I also can't look at Jo anymore, I tear up immediately. Oh my, I think I shouldn't rewatch season 2 any time soon. Though my love for Jo developed in this episode, she was great.

HOW MUCH DO I FUCKING LOVE THIS SHOW FOR HAVING A BONA FIDE, ON SCREEN, CLOSE UP, EXTENDED GAY KISS?
I knew about the make-out session, and I hoped it was one of the boys, but then I was sure it would be Ellen or Jo. AND THEN THIS HAPPENED, MY GOD! (so, the Azazel/John kiss happened too?)
I almost have to wonder (okay, this will never happen, but still) if they're building up to something, you know, carefully, step by step checking out how people react to such scenes.
First we had the rather harmless "Ernie and Bert are gay" joke, that came literally out of nowhere. Then we had pink panties. Then Dean's obsession with Dr.Sexy. Then an on-screen gay couple. And now a kiss. All in one season.

I know it's a Starsky and Hutch thing but whatever, I choose to believe that DEAN THINKS OF CAS AS A GIANT HUGGABLE TEDDY BEAR.
They know their fanbase, they won't give him such a nickname just because. :D

Me too! I loved how he wasn't somewhere, or sulking in a corner, but actually played drinking games as a part of this family! I'm a bit worried about his starting to drink, but still, I love this scene.

For a heartbeat there I was actually worried he might kiss her, lol.
Same here, even though I thought it would be more of an angelic kiss of death or something. But this scene was great, I loved the tension.

Someone mentioned a theory about this in a comment about this episode, and I fully with it:They didn't want to remember this after they have failed. I think that when Bobby made the photo, he wanted to look at it and probably don't remember "their last night on earth", but rather "the night before they saved the world". But they didn't, and now he can't stand looking at it. Still, I wish he had kept it.

THIS. So much this. I mean, we went from season 1 with the very occasional wincesty joke, to rigid heterosexuality for the next couple seasons, then CAS, and the fangirls went screaming crazy for Dean/Castiel, and now Kripke's like, "Ohhhhh, I know what would *really* get them going..." But would making it canon raise or lower the ratings? And thus we have subtle experimentation with the fanbase's reactions. At least this way, they'll have weeded out the more flaming homophobics by the time Dean and Cas actually get horizontal. Lol. I know, wishful thinking brain is wishful, but STILL! XDDDD

I loved thi episode so MUCH! Cas/Lucifer scenes were amazing, Cas was amazing and Lucifer too. And damn you, Show, for making me actually sad. I've never been really, truly sad because of a TV show and now I am and it sucks. And I hate all the reminders of zombie!future from 5x04, they HURT. Dean being too badass and Cas becoming more human, and Lucifer, and Detroit (WHAT the Hell must have/will happen in Detroit to make Sam say "yes"?). And it hurst even more when you remember that Ben Edlund wrote both of this episodes. Foreshadowing much, Mr. Edlund?

And it's January 21st. That's what the promo says.

As much as the hints of The End hurt, I also can't help but be excited because I do want to find out what can make Sam say yes! I hope we get that far where we can see it, but then Dean does something different and Sam says no. Cas, though, I worry about Cas. I hope Dean takes good care of him. :(

Castiel seemed significantly less afraid of Lucifer than he did of Raphael.

Ellen and Jo... a part of me is kind of mad at the writers for killing the only remaining women on the show. Even if they did it well and made me want to cry. Why must they all die?

Very proud of Cas for taking lessons from Alistair on how to escape a trap. And for not being at all thrown off by the fact that he can't kill demons anymore. It did kind of look like he was going to kiss Meg. Which was very weird feeling.

Dean radioing Bobby just about broke my heart. :( He so rarely really leans on someone...

Well, even if Lucifer is more powerful than Raphael, he wasn't the one who smote the shit out of Cas, so I'm sure Castiel has some ingrained fear of Raphael that he doesn't have of Lucifer. Besides, Lucifer's so NICE.
