I was talking to someone last week about omg how cool is this parallel? Between Dean spending season one looking for his father and Cas's search now? There could be so much meta and fic and bonding in this! AND THEN THE SHOW FUCKING WENT THERE. DEAN AND CAS CONNECTED! BONDED! HAD A HEART TO HEART! DEAN COMFORTED HIM! Dean who doesn't believe in God ENCOURAGED CAS TO KEEP BELIEVING AND SEARCHING BECAUSE IT'S WHAT HE NEEDED. And Cas being so silently grateful, and just. Dean is his everything now and IT SHOWS IN THE WAY HE LOOKS AT HIM.


Last week I was all, "Dean didn't really give Cas that amulet because he knew Cas needed it, that's just wishful thinking as well, LIKE THE SUIT BUTTONING OMFGGGG, it was probably just some sort of apology." Well, fuck. Dean does know what Cas needs, and he does wanna fucking give it to him. (lol.) I just. my heart, my heart, THIS SHIP, I CANNOT EVEN BELIEVE THIS REALLY HAPPENED TO MY OTP. WHAT DO I DO WITH THIS?

..ANYWAY. Of course Castiel has to ask, "What about you?" Omg, could their BFFery get ANY MORE EPIC? As for Dean.. I don't think he's good. I think he's trying so hard to believe it that he's almost got himself fooled, but I don't think he's actually good. Sure, he feels lighter without having to worry about Sam constantly, but good? Don't buy it. He can't be good without Sam. I have to admit to feeling iffy about this whole bit. I'm sure Dean lying to himself will be temporary, though.

But mostly I just love how Castiel specifically asks, "Even without your brother?" Omg. Could not have asked for a better Dean/Cas heart to heart this episode. Not ever. Never imagined Dean saying he had more fun with Castiel in the past 24 hours than he'd had with Sam in years. Never imagined Dean actually opening up like that to Castiel. fffffffff. oh, ship. I seriously can't handle you. (Although, tbh, I don't completely like Dean comparing Castiel to Sam, like they have to compete with each other or something, DEAN CAN LOVE THEM BOTH, SURELY.)


Trying to tell Cas you're happy alone? Really, Dean? How convincing do you really think you are, especially when Cas leaves you alone and you obviously are not happy about it? Maybe that will make you realize how much you miss Sam, too. :( I do think it's a case of trying to lie to himself rather than to Cas, though, like I said. I think he was as honest and open as possible with Cas. ♥


Sam is Lucifer's vessel, eh? Hahahha, we spent all of season four worrying about that and then thought we were in the clear, and then it turns out to be the case after all. :)) But LUCIFER IS SO AWESOME. I love Mark in this role. love love love. He gives me the most delicious chills.

OMG I had to pause so many times to LAUGH AND LAUGH AND LAUGH.

I do think you're right in Cas's terror at the brothel being overplayed. I think that was the single most convincing look of sheer terror I've seen on anyone. I'm just not sure WHY he would be that terrified.

Yay! Thanks for pointing out that Dean and Cas kept standing nearer and nearer each other during that last interrogation scene with Raphael. So much unspoken trust and reliance there. I loved that Cas asks twice about Sam but doesn't push it. Btw, do you think Cas or any of the other angels know about Sam being Lucifer's vessel? Because I dunno. What if Cas has all along been keeping this info from Dean? OTOH, it seems to be pretty important info so it's possible that all Cas had--lowly clerk-type angel he is--were rumors and suppositions, not actual confirmation.

Is the sound not in sync? If it is and you use VLC, you can delay the audio by pressing J or speed it up by pressing K. I delayed it by 1650 for the out-of-sync places then slowed it down again to 0. It's wonky in the beginning and at the end in my file, maybe it's the same as yours?

I love this post. I want to go back and study it and flail with you over and over and over again. Because this is our episode. It had everything as you said and gave us so much. So much.
