Nov. 23rd, 2008 03:23 pmYou guys, I CANNOT GET ENOUGH OF CASTIEL. D: I keep rewatching every single scene he's been in over and over again, and I finally got so sick of clicking on each episode and searching for his scenes that I spliced all of them together in one vid. Thought I'd share it here, in case anyone else is as obsessed as I am and/or just thinks it would be useful for making Dean/Castiel fanvids or some shit: 30min/200mb of glorious Dean/Castiel at MU. (I was going to add some surprise Rahm in there but VDub is finicky about videos with different bitrates and I didn't want to bother with another program since I like VDub's encoding best, alas.)
Unlike my last post, I'm going to attempt to inject some coherency into this one. I've seen a couple of people make comparisons between angels and cylons, about free will and falling and redemption, and I have to say I've been having some of the same thoughts. But more than that, the four angels who've seen the face of god just smack me as the Final Four, which would make God the Final Cylon. :P (I've certainly thought about that too, about the Final Cylon being the original creator, but that's neither here nor there.)
This brings me to a sort of theory, if you will. Maybe God in SPNverse is just another angel, albeit even more powerful than the Final Four, as they shall henceforth be referred to. That's why he's so paranoid about the other angels not having faith that he put a death sentence on it. If this is true, it might also give Kripke & co. fodder to base season 5 around, because let's face it, I have no idea what the frak else they could do to top this season's freaking apocalypse, as Dean would say. Unless the conclusion of this season is the 66th seal getting broken and Hell coming to earth and the whole next season just deals with the aftermath of that.
Either way, this lends itself nicely to Castiel falling, y/y? :D He's already having doubts, we've already seen him envy Anna'skiss with the boy he dragged from perdition humanity (btw, this is sort of OT, but whatever: I don't believe Castiel and Anna had a romantic history as most of fandom seems to think; just that she was his boss so they had a working relationship), and if he suspects God is really just some pumped up angel... there's no reason for him not to fall (for Dean). And since Dean already saved Castiel, that's my new goal in life: to see Castiel fall. Besides, it doesn't seem he's terribly high up in the angel hierarchy anyway. Which raises the question: If Alistair is so much more powerful than he is, how did Castiel manage to steal Dean away from him? And God I really really really want to see flashbacks of this.. Castiel in all his wings and glory, gripping Dean's arm tight and lifting him from Hell. I wonder if he remembers any of that, considering he remembers the rest of Hell.
I also want to ask you guys something about Sam/Ruby. Ruby getting captured by Alistair and bringing the demons to the showdown -- was Sam in on that plan too or was he just covering up for Ruby's betrayal? I've had a couple of conversations about this with people and still haven't really come to a solid conclusion. I think Sam was covering up for her because she left when he was sleeping and he genuinely seemed to not know where she was in the scene before the angels came. And there was that look between them when Dean told Sam it was a good plan.. What does everyone else think?
What's the official return date for SPN? I've heard both Jan 15 and Jan 29 from multiple people.. Personally, I'm hoping for Jan 15 if only because BSG premieres the next day and those would just be the two best days of my frakking life.
In case anyone missed it, the HQ version of the formerly elusive promo is here. :D :D :D MOST INTENSE 1.5 MINUTE VIDEO EVER. God, everything is turned upside-down, including me, and it really hit me how much I miss my show, and how it's almost over. D: Before this semester started I started splicing together all the Kara/Lee scenes from every episode, much like the Castiel vid above, but I only got about halfway through season two. Just watching the promo is enough to inspire me to start working on that again. jfkds;aflksdj

Date: 2008-11-23 08:53 pm (UTC)Hee! I am so loving the comparisons between the angels and Cylons, because really it makes sense. And for the Final Four to be those four angels and the Fifth being God, that so needs to be crossovered. I don't care how, it just does because it's brilliant.
Those are excellent points you bring up and I like your theories regarding God and the angels. I'm really enjoying seeing the side of the religious aspect of the show, seeing the complications and the difficulties and perhaps the grass isn't always greener on the other side. My suspicion is the the four angels who've claimed to have seen God are the ones giving out the orders, and there is a God but He doesn't appear to all of his angels and only to certain ones. I think this may be an interesting development because Dean has to start believing and have faith and Castiel, who's doubting and questioning much like Anna had before she fell, might also be chosen for God's Will and will probably see God if there's a chance he might fall, as well. I mean, it's not that I want him to fall for "disobeying" or whatever, but if his purpose is to fall because of saving Dean and for making direct contact with God instead of just handed out orders from other angels, that would be an intriguing twist.
In terms of the plan Ruby had, I don't think Sam was in on it. I think he figured she would do something but not in exact details. He did seem rather worried before Uriel and Castiel appeared and the showdown began.
If Alistair is so much more powerful than he is, how did Castiel manage to steal Dean away from him? And God I really really really want to see flashbacks of this.. Castiel in all his wings and glory, gripping Dean's arm tight and lifting him from Hell. I wonder if he remembers any of that, considering he remembers the rest of Hell.
Dude, I so totally agree with this. I'm not entirely sure if Castiel and Alastair ever did have an encounter when he gripped Dean from Hell, but the implications seemed that there might've been. I honestly don't know. I don't think we'll be getting a flashback because Kripke said months ago he didn't want to actually show Hell, but with all they've discussed with their version of it they can just recall certain things. Like another Dean and Castiel scene together as they talk about it, him being saved and Castiel risking himself in the Pit for him and fighting demons off to save him.
This also raises another question though: was Dean still torturing souls when Castiel came to drag him out? What was happening at that time when he was being saved? I want to know!
There's so many things about this that my brain is all ljsadl;fjas;ldjf;lasdkf because of it. I love this show so much for doing that to me. :D

Date: 2008-11-23 09:03 pm (UTC)As for the whole cylon thing - I hadn't even considered it. I like it though, It just calls for a crossover.
It would be really cool, if God, doesn't necissarily want Castiel to fall but for Dean to assend to gain grace as it were. And this just came to me but you don't think that Dean is a seal do you? I think he was and when Dean was in Hell and Castiel saved him, he gave Dean a choice, he could stay in hell and continue to torture those souls thereby losing his humanity, or he could be rescued from Alistar and hell's grasp and try to redeme himself.
Or it could be that Dean never actually did torture souls, Alistar could have just been screwing with Deans' head and done some sort of mind wammy to make Dean think he was free from the rack when he wasn't? And the only "people" dean was torturing was himself, his soul?
FTW I need to stop my crazy theories now and actually go do some work.
Thanks for the vid.

Date: 2008-11-23 09:35 pm (UTC)Since I'm pretty sure we'll find out who the Final Cylon is before we find out for sure whether or not there's a God, it'll be interesting to see how that affects our Supernatural theories too, hahha. I agree, though, there needs to be crossovers!
Wow, I really like that idea, that Castiel was sent from Heaven to save Dean by falling. That would be so epic and so full-circle, somehow. But I don't really get what you mean by him seeing God to fall? I wonder if it's possible for an angel's grace to be transferred or given to (or even stolen by) someone else. If Castiel literally or figuratively gives his grace to Dean. I don't really know where this thought is going, but really I'd be happy with Dean just wearing Castiel's grace on a necklace, heh.
Right, that's what I thought too. If it's true, that certainly implies a lot about Sam and Ruby's relationship. Seems dangerous, but then again Ruby really does seem genuinely loyal to him. I wonder if she can be redeemed, if demons can retrieve their humanity.
I imagine they wouldn't be flashbacks so much as second-long flashes of white light on the bloody red that we've been seeing, maybe shadows of his wings too. But god yes, I would love love love to see Dean and Castiel actually talk about it. I'm the one who gripped you tight and raised you from perdition. I wonder how difficult it was, exactly, for Castiel to do this, and how much he risked. Oh, Misha. ♥
Hmm, I assume there's no time for sleep down in Hell, so yeah, he was probably in the middle of torturing someone. D: I wonder if any of those souls will come back somehow, Witness-like, to confront Dean.
God, me too. This and BSG are the only two shows that do that to me, and really it only started this season for Supernatural. fjklds;aflkd ♥!

Date: 2008-11-23 09:49 pm (UTC)Oh my god yes, that would be such an epic crossover. *_* Maybe I'll write it myself when I have more time.
MAYBE CASTIEL WILL GIVE DEAN HIS GRACE, if it's possible. Which it probably isn't, but whatever. Hmm, I've never thought of that, that Dean could be a seal. So if, when the choice came, Dean chose to remain in Hell, that would be the breaking of the seal? Wow, that's certainly an interesting thought. Even the most evil of demons seem pretty desperate to get out of Hell, though, so it would take a damn lot for Dean to consciously choose to stay. Plus, in Lazurus Rising he seemed to have no clue how he got out..
Omg, I really love this one. That torturing souls was all in Dean's head and he was really just being tortured himself, but in a different way. Omg. There is a lot of fic in this somewhere, I can see it. On the other hand, it would be interesting to see souls he tortured come back to confront him, all Witness-style.
Yeah, yeah, work. me too. >.< ♥!
