Yesterday I went merrily to the zoo, expecting a delightful day of beautiful animals and innocent fun. Then my pure, virginal sensibilities were subjected to this:

The little one must be her calf. I have to say as a Mama though there are limits to how far I would go to help my youngun. I draw the line at tummy rubs. I guess we're looking at the elephant version of suppositories here?

You can probably console yourself that what comes out of grasseaters is really very similar to what goes in. It's mostly cellulose!!

Actually the little one isn't quite as small as it looks, it was standing in a shallow crater. Still, maybe you're right that it's the calf.

I went to the zoo once in Calgary and all the animals seemed to be getting it on in front of us, starting with the buffalo. All. Of. Them.

This is worse, though. At least in Calgary I felt reasonably certain they were having fun. This does not look fun.
