ALSO AMAZING: White Collar just. MIND COMPLETELY BLOWN, WHAT EVEN WAS THAT.

Neal and Peter in that last scene, I don't even know. That was almost as intense and wrenching as the Dean/Castiel green room scene, and so deftly done. Not much spoken but so many things implied under the surface, fjdskl ffff PERFECT. PERFECT WRITING, PERFECT ACTING, PERFECT EVERYTHING. Peter demanding to know why Neal hadn't said goodbye to him even though he already knew because he wanted to hear Neal say it? NEAL WAS CRYING, I THINK. His tears weren't obvious like Dean's single tears of manpain but I swear I could see them when he turned back around.


And then Peter's look of ~UTTER SHINING HOPE~ WHEN NEAL TURNED AROUND AGAIN AND SAID HIS NAME ALL SOFT AND PLEADING AND LOST.

Plus, wow shock value because I did not see that shit coming. I'm not 100% convinced Kate is dead, but I'm inclined to believe she is because throughout the entire season she was an idea rather than a real character, like El said. It makes sense for her to bow out as an idea before she becomes a real character by having scenes with Neal, and I think they've dragged on the "pursuing Kate" storyline for long enough. Next season they can focus on figuring shit out after the fact, I guess, like what her motives really were.

Her making that deal with Fowler raises some red flags for me, I dunno. On the surface it seems like she just wanted to make sure she and Neal could disappear together, but couldn't that have happened anyway after Neal finished serving out his original sentence? There's something about the "four months left to go" thing that just seems off. Like she knew she had to get him to fuck up before he was let out so that the FBI and thus Fowler could snatch him up?

So maybe she and Fowler made a different kind of deal involving the music box, and he (or whoever he was answering to) wanted to cut Kate out of that by killing her and Neal off. Shit, makes me wonder if someone's gonna try to kill Fowler off too. He said "as long as you remember our deal: I get the box and this is over." So what was in it for the big(ger) guy? It seems Operation Mentor (and that's an interesting name, who's mentoring whom?) was set up specifically to get the music box, but the guy in charge promised to let Fowler have it? Doesn't make sense, dude. Unless the guy in charge saw himself as Neal's mentor and what he wanted to get out of it was... dead!Neal? What a lousy mentor, I DON'T EVEN KNOW. NOTHING MAKES SENSE.

Or what if Kate isn't dead but had wanted to lure Neal into that plane to kill him? I notice she stayed put through that whole scene very purposefully. And she'd intended to escape through some small side door right before it blew up. If the FBI guy in charge was HER mentor and she needed to get her hands on the music box, she could've lured Neal into all of this with her Fed's help right before Neal got out of prison and then get rid of him after she has what she wants. And they were both playing Fowler -- she was actually pulling his strings through her Fed while making Fowler think he was pulling her strings? So far this is making the most sense to me in terms of everyone's motivations, and I think Peter was onto something when he kept telling Neal that Kate wasn't on his side. Peter seems like he's really good at reading people, or else he wouldn't love Neal so much. Anyway, according to this theory, Kate wouldn't be dead, hmm. Perhaps I change my mind about that.

Bah, okay, enough hurting my brain over this shit and back to the squeeing: EL WAS AMAZING. I love that she's Peter's weak spot and that he admitted that he'd do anything for her. This is a lovely echo of the pilot when El asked if he'd escape from prison for her. ♥

MOZZY. MOZZY ALMOST CRYING WHEN NEAL SAID GOODBYE. AWWWWW.

Alex has really grown on me. I would not be opposed to seeing her and Neal get (back?) together next season, just saying. Even though Peter will of course always be his #1 who he COULDN'T EVEN BEAR TO SAY GOODBYE TO, especially with Kate out of the picture now. (Even if she isn't dead, that'll just prove that she was playing him all along.)

DIANA. <33333333 So happy to see her again, I loved her in the pilot. What a BAMF, of course she carries two guns. XD

Really love Jones too. Omg I LOVE ALL OF THEM. *FLAILS* WHY IS THIS SEASON OVER? D:

That last scene was more than I ever could have wanted from them, god.

I AM GOING A LITTLE BIT INSANE. Hmm, I think Neal would have noticed if it wasn't really her? But the "changed" thing does seem awfully foreshadowy, even if I don't think someone like Alex would know more about Kate than Neal does. Although she did know why he was going after the music box, which I find interesting. I'd chalked it up to her just knowing Neal that damn well, but it would be a really cool twist if she was somehow behind more than she lets on. Maybe she did something with the music box before she brought it back?

This hiatus isn't too bad. BSG went on hiatus for like, seven months once. :P

Two. I just can't wrap my head around Kate's actions. What was the Morse Code about in the jail if she were upfront to Fowler about simply getting new ID's for her and Neal?

If she made a deal to simply get the item, why the whole break-up routine? Neal was going to be free in three months. They could have just left.

oh White Collar, it's eating my SOUL. seriously, Neal crying made my life. And when the plane blew up I totally had a Supernatural moment. Also, doesn't it make you feel better to know that we only have to last till the summer for new episodes? Because it makes me feel better.

and Jones? is so adorable, I remember when he died on ER, so sad. So I love how much he owns in this show.

I totally saw the explosion coming, I was begging Neal not to get on that plane. In my head of course, because out loud would have gotten me weird looks.

I'm still not sure how I feel about Alex, I kind of like her kind of don't. I have no reason to dislike her and I definitely like her more than Kate.

Diana coming back is awesome, I like her so much more than Cruz.

My Gods! That scene with Peter and Neal. I don't even know. I'm sure the writers are just trying to feed fandom, I swear. With all the OT3 playing (AND NEAL GOT EL AND AWESOME JOB FOR SCREWING UP HER REPUTATION) and then that amazing final scene. IDEK, dude. What?

White Collar just got better (not really plotwise, to be fair, but, really, we're here for the pretty) throughout the season and now Diana is coming ~back for good I am just so *explodes* over the moon.

Allllso - everyone in the show gets to be so smart and I love that. I love that Neal never really pulls the wool over Peter's eyes and I love that Diana did the thing with revealing her gun to Peter and that she has two guns. (With Numb3rs dying this year :(((((( I'm glad to know there'll be at least one show with smart FBI agents in it in the future).

Why did Diana even leave in the first place? I was sad. I mean, I know there was something about her going to DC with her girlfriend, but it was never explained? But I'm glad she's coming back, in any case!

I love that as well. Even their secondary characters like Jones are really intelligent and get their moments to shine. What a kick ass team.

Peter had the entire Mentor case file, right? Well, except for the encrypted file that Diana couldn't get into. So...what if Peter knew the plane was rigged and he was trying to stall Neal?

I'm not saying he wished ill on Kate (who probably slid down a rabbit hole as soon as she saw Peter in the airplane hangar). I'm just saying that Peter may have had some idea about what could possibly happen and he was trying to delay Neal until he could better see how things would pan out.

Please don't let Mozzie be evil, but I don't necessarily understand his motivations.

Hell, I suspect everyone. The apartment is too good. Mozzie is too good. Peter is too good. This show is making me crazy-(er).

Damn, what if Kate had the plane rigged to blow so that she and Neal could escape together and just disappear off of everyone's radar?? But Peter holding up Neal nixxed all that because the timer went off before Neal got there and Kate had to disappear alone.

Yeah, everyone has their own motivations except for Mozzie, which CONFUSES ME. Sometimes Neal treats him like Mozzie works for him, I dunno.

But WHITE COLLAR. Holy shit did not see that coming. Am suspicious of Kate actually being dead, esp. because she moved out of the line of visibility back further into the plane when Peter showed up (which obviously we were supposed to interpret as her sort of hiding-ish), and there was just that little shot of her peering through the window. Wrapping up that storyline with sudden death just seems too "neat" an ending, with all the time they put into it. I'm leaning towards Kate being the epic bad guy of the series. But OMG PETER! NEAL! "You said goodbye to everyone but me. Why?" "Because you're the only one who could make me stay." Paraphrasing, but... LOVE! <3

El was awesome, as usual, but I'm still not lovin' Alex. I'm not sure why, I don't so much hate her as I am indifferent. I don't think she really adds anything (or at least, she hasn't yet).

Well, even if she is really dead, her storyline is far from wrapped up. Since she's just an idea anyway, her death can serve as much purpose as her life. I would love it if Kate was the epic bad guy of the series, and not just because that would mean I was right. XD

Alex has a lot of potential on this show since she's already so secretive anyway. We don't know what her motives are, really, aside from the obvious one of being in love with Neal which I don't completely buy.

They'll probably spend all of season two exploring the music box, and there'll be more questions than answers before the end of it, I'm sure.

Watched the finale just so I could read your post. That last scene really was love. And Neal totally was crying but trying to be manly about it. You screencapped the look of Shining Hope just perfectly. He really does look like a kid at Christmas hoping he gets the thing he wants most in the world. And yet seeing this abiding affection, I still can't manage to ship them.

Mozzy... I think Moz probably doesn't have that many friends, but the one friend he does have is Neal, and that's like being friends with the coolest kid in school, it's like being the go to guy for James Bond. Maybe Neal does use him unfairly, but different relationships have their own balance. And part of that balance is that Neal makes Moz's life interesting and cool, and Moz makes Neal's life easier and possible. Perhaps part of the difference is also that in Peter Neal has met his match. Moz isn't a match.

As far as the big plot... I don't understand why Kate would have planned some big blow the plane up so they can escape plot, they were already going to legally escape. What sense would that make? I do think she had an agenda of her own, even though I can't imagine what it might be. And I also think she's dead now, not least because this means that now Neal gets to be obsessed over her death and who killed her and why and did she really love him. Now he'll never have an answer to that. He'll never know if Peter was right, and rather than give up, I think it'll haunt him and he might even try to go over their past to figure it out, or go deeper into the Mentor operation to see if he could figure out if she had some other scam running, all in an effort to find out if she was trying to use him.

Eh, I don't actually ship them either, not in a slashy sort of way. They're my gen OTP, kind of like Sam'n'Dean. Peter/El is just too amazing for me to ship Peter with anyone else.

Awwww. I think you're right about Moz. Neal is kind of everything he ever wanted to be, but if he couldn't be Neal, then he would be happy with being Neal's best friend. That's a little sad, but also incredibly endearing.

No, I don't think she planned it so they could escape either. Maybe she planned it to kill Neal, if she was behind it at all. Which I'm still torn on. But yes, I think Neal, at least, will believe her dead, and that he'll tear apart the FBI trying to find out what happened. If he does find she's involved in some scam against him, then I guess that will answer his question about how she actually felt about him and he can move on.
